HOW TO PREVENT THINNING OF HAIR AND GET THICK, HEALTHY HAIR


Thick and voluminous hair is someone we have craved for, since years. In this attempt most of us have spent thousands of bucks on shampoos, masks, serums, conditioners and some may have gone for salon treatments to make hair look better( if it worked, you are lucky) but still find hair strand in hairbrush. Here we are gonna learn the science behind healthy hair and how to get it.


WHAT IS THICK HAIR?

Thick hair refers to the density of hair and the number of hair follicles .

The average thickness of human hair is 0.003-0.005 inches. Anything below this standard is considered thin hair, while anything above it is considered thick hair.


WHY IS MY HAIR THINNING? 
•Family history (heredity).
Hormonal changes and medical conditions
Medications and supplements
Stress
Hairstyles and treatments
Age
Poor nutrition
Hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism


PREVENT THINNING OF HAIR

1. Eating protein rich diet, you know hair follicles are mostly made of protein called keratin.
2.Vitamin A is a great accessory for hair loss prevention.
3. Multivitamins, Folic acid, omega-3, omega-6 fatty acids,vitamin D, biotin are must. I know it's a lot of fancy terms but a clean Indian diet comprise of these. If you are having trouble getting all these taking external help via supplements is no harm.
4. Coconut oil and olive oil prevent thinning of hair. I use coconut oil on my hair once a week. You can do it on weekends before head wash. 
5. Do not make a tight ponytail for long hours, let your hair loosen up. 
6. Don't wash your hair everyday.
7. Avoid hot shower, it dehydrates your strands and strips the scalp of natural oils.





HOW TO GET THICK, HEALTHY HAIR

1. COCONUT OIL

If you are an Indian I bet your mom would have greased your hair with coconut oil at least till you got bit by teenage self consciousness insect and trust me that was a shield of our hair.

HOW TO USE IT?
A night before washing your hair, apply some coconut oil on our scalp as well as lengths. In winters coconut oil tends to freeze to solid, you can warm it then and cover your hair for 15 minutes after applying oil, as in to let the oil get absorbed by your scalp. 



2. ALOE VERA

I've been listening to the amazing super powers of Aloe Vera since forever. It repairs damaged cells in the scalp thus,improves the health of hair follicle and blood circulation. This also stimulates hair follicles to promote hair growth.

HOW TO USE IT?
apply pure aloe puree to your hair for 30 minutes, then rinse it off. Repeat this 2 times a week
You can also mix it with coconut oil, lemon juice or castor oil.


3.EGGS 

 Eggs are high in protein, which is essential for the body to build strong, thick hair. When used regularly, an egg treatment may help thicken and strengthen a person’s hair.
Eggs can be used in numerous ways.
 HOW TO USE IT?
Beat 1-2 eggs(depending on your hair length) and apply it all over your head starting from roots, leave it for 30 minutes then rinse with cold water.
DON'T RINSE WITH HOT WATER, I did this once and my hair started smelling like cow dung.

You can add certain elements to beaten egg for further nourishment of your hair.
1. Egg+ aloe vera+ warm olive oil.
2. Egg+ Banana+ honey+ olive oil+ milk
3. Egg+ coconut oil+ almond oil
4. Egg+ curd+lemon oil


4. ONION JUICE

Phytochemical compounds in onion can induce hair growth.

HOW TO USE IT?
Grate an onion, extract out it's juice and apply it on scalp for about 60 minutes. Wash your hair with shampoo later on.


5. AMLA OR INDIAN GOOSEBERRY

Amla contains oodles of essential fatty acids, which are said to strengthen hair follicles. Also, a surplus of Vitamin C in amla can prevent premature greying.
HOW TO USE?
Warm some coconut oil, and amla poder to it and massage your scalp for about 10 minutes and then let it stay for 30 mintues. Rinse it off, wash your hair with a mild shampoo.


6. GREEN TEA

Yeah!! Even used green tea bags can be reused.
Enriched with polyphenols, green tea is one of the best remedies to get thicker hair. 

HOW TO USE?
Don't throw away used green tea bags, infact boil them for a minutes and then apply on your scalp, let it stay for 30 minutes then rinse off.

7. FENUGREEK OR METHI SEEDS

It contains proteins and nicotinic acid; protein-enriched diets have been known to encourage stimulation of hair growth.

HOW TO USE?
Soak some fenugreek seeds in water, grind them until a smooth paste is formed, add some coconut oil and apply it on scalp, leave for next 60 minutes then rinse off. 



8. VITAMIN E OIL

Filled with antioxidants, vitamin E oil fights the free radicals. It helps to increase oxygen in the body and increases the blood circulation in the scalp.

HOW TO USE?
Apply vitamin E oil overnight and wash your hair with shampoo the next morning and there you have silky and smooth hair.



9. OATMEAL

Oats contain a lot of important nutrients like zinc, magnesium, iron and potassium, that promote thick and luxuriant hair growth. The high vitamin A content of oatmeal helps maintain the quality of your hair.

HOW TO USE?
 Add equal amounts of oats and milk, apply it to your hair, let it stay for 20 minutes, then rinse with mild shampoo and water.

It is important to remember that not all natural treatments are suitable for everyone and the results vary.
Be patient, natural treatments are a slow process, no one has got a magical wand to treat the damaged.
