WAYS TO CURE ALCOHOL HANGOVER

Ever Happened that you got an important meeting/exam the next day, but its your best friend's birthday and one glass of whiskey won't harm. But even without realizing you had enough to make you go dizzy?

We're having a blast, we just keep going, and we end up "over served" along the way. And we pay for it. We wake up the next morning with a splitting head, dry mouth, and a queasy stomach.

At this moment we are all locked at our homes, avoiding social contacts, wishing to get through this pandemic as soon as possible but after this is over, we will all return to our normal lives and have all fun that we missed in these set of months, partying overnight, working all day. That would be the time when we'll need some alcohol hangover cures.

Here are a few to help you party till midnight and show your presence at work.

HOME REMEDIES TO CURE HANGOVER

1. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER-  A glass of water is the easiest hangover cure. Alcohol dehydrates you by increasing the amount of urine your kidneys make, can't neglect sweating, vomiting or diarrhea after the night binge. After a heavy night drink a glass of water before going to bed, it will curb the effects of booze the next morning. Another glass will help you wake the next morning by keeping you hydrated. Sports drinks can be a great help in maintaining electrolyte balance.

2. SODA WITH LEMON WATER- Lemon juice or lemon tea is a popular home remedy for hangovers. It helps to assimilate alcohol and provides instant relief. This is something my friends love. It was also found that alcohol depletes immunity, so to protect our self from colds, viruses we must consume vitamin C.

3. GET PLENTY OF SLEEP-Getting a good night's sleep and allowing your body to recover may help alleviate symptoms and make a hangover more bearable. Alcohol consumption may interfere with sleep. A lack of sleep could contribute to hangover symptoms such as fatigue, irritability and headaches.

4. EATING FRUITS- If you're feeling weak or just plain out of whack, it might be because you need some potassium. Bananas are a great source of it.

Other fruits and veggies that can help include strawberries, cucumbers, cantaloupe, and zucchini.

Fruits rich in vitamin C should be consumed and anti oxidants should not be neglected.

5. COFFEE- Coffee may relieve the feeling of fatigue associated with hangovers and help alleviate the headache symptoms by constricting blood vessels. But that relief is only temporary and the symptoms will return. Also, coffee acts as a diuretic further dehydrating the body and increasing symptoms. Again, coffee may lessen some symptoms initially, but in the long run, may cause more problems.

Caffeine increases your heart rate as well as the force behind it. A common symptom of a hangover is a rapid heartbeat. Coffee may heighten these effects so that you experience palpitations. Palpitations give you the sensation that your heart is racing. The symptom is often harmless but can be unpleasant.

Coffee plays kind of mixed role in alcohol hangover, for some it acts as a remedy but for some it can be troublesome. So, take care if you wanna have a cup of coffee after getting drunk but never over do it.

6. GET SOME VITAMINS-Several nutrients, like vitamin C and vitamin E, may help protect your body against the damaging effects of alcohol. Others, like vitamin B12, can be depleted by regular alcohol consumption. So a good multivitamin or a vitamin C or B-complex could help.

7. TAKE A SHOWER- Cold water exposure stimulates a surge of mood boosting transmitters, which helps you feel better and the anxiety, low mood washes away to some extent. Also it makes you more alert, improves blood circulation and reduces muscle inflammation.

Lukewarm shower is particularly the best and suitable for almost everyone.

Hot shower may lead to dilation of your blood vessels thus, causing a drop in your blood pressure. On the other hand cold showers can cause a shock to your system and may not be ideal for someone suffering from heart disease.

8. GET MOVING- Yes, this is the best EXERCISE. NO, lifting weights and going on a rough HIIT is not what I mean. To cure hangover you need to be gentle stretching, walking, yoga is all your body needs. Exercise releases this good mood hormones also when you exercise your body releases endorphins( natural pain killer).

9.HAIR OF THE DOG( HAVE A DRINK THE NEXT MORNING)- I actually saw this work during a family wedding. One of my uncles was badly drunk and he couldn't even walk out of his bed the next morning, so what my cousin did was, he gave him one more drink and soon after he managed to get out of his bed.

The theory behind the “hair of the dog” hangover remedy is that if you drink more alcohol, your blood alcohol levels will rise and you will no longer experience hangover symptoms. However, when you eventually stop drinking and blood alcohol levels return to zero, the hangover will return.

THIS PRACTICE DELAYS THE TIME UNTIL YOU FEEL A HANGOVER EFFECT, IT IS NOT A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. NEVER DO THIS ON REGULAR BASIS.

10. GINGER TO EASE NAUSEA-Ginger is one of the most research-backed natural anti-sickness remedies there is. Several studies have shown that gingerol (which is the active ingredient in ginger), can help settle upset stomachs.

11. DON'T SKIP BREAKFAST- Foods rich in an amino acid called ‘cysteine’ can decrease the amount of the toxic chemical ‘acetaldehyde’, which is produced as your body metabolises alcohol. TRY red meat, chicken, eggs. turkey, yogurt, cheese, sunflower seeds and legumes

Alcohol lowers your blood sugar. That may explain the dizziness and shaking some people get with a hangover. Your brain needs carbs for fuel. So, have carbs to bring your blood sugar level back to normal.

12. HONEY- Honey. Fructose digests at the same rate as alcohol, so consuming a healthy dose of honey during a hangover forces your body to get rid of the alcohol in your system faster. It also helps your body recover from the hypoglycemia (aka low blood glucose) brought on by drinking.
