EATING FAT AND LOSING POUNDS

When I was 15, I had a sudden urge to lose weight and become slim(though I had normal BMI) and the whole mentality later on led me to anorexia and lot more. But the first step which I took was avoiding fats. Being born and brought in a punjabi family I was so used to eating ghee in almost everything, I'm glad my mother is kind of diet consciousness and maintains average fat percentage in food. 
So, coming back to eliminating fats, I believe most of you would have done it at some point or the other as I did. Almost after 2 years I realized that the problem was never fats, it was the quantity and what else you have with it. Here I'll be sharing a bit of what I've learned about fats and weight loss.
So talking about obesity rates in world, they have increased thrice in a few decades though we have cut ourselves of saturated fat. Yes I am talking about carbohydrates and refined grains.

Our body structure is really complex.To burn body fat you should have low levels of insulin but when we eat something insulin level in our bloodstreams rush. Insulin signals fat cells to pull away fatty acids from bloodstream and keep them within the cell. Eating more carbohydrates increases insulin level in body and prevents fat loss,  as more fat is accumulated in fat cells. This means hunger and weight gain. Eating more fat and fewer carbohydrates means easier fat burning, less hunger, and a better shot at losing weight.

Leptin is another hormone important for feeling satiated. But insulin dominates, and interferes with leptin's ability to make you feel full and satisfied. So, when insulin is present, due to excess consumption of refined carbohydrates, it turns off leptin's signals, leaving you unsatisfied and on the road to weight gain.

Diet low on processed food can improve your skin.

Fats increase body metabolism. Not all fats get stored in body, some change into fuel instantly and provides energy to work more.


We need decent amount of fat to aid fat loss. It is important to choose healthy fats over unhealthy ones, certain fats will just add up inches to your waist. One must choose unsaturated and poly unsaturated fats over saturated fats and trans fats.  Healthy fats can lower heart diseases and strokes, Lower LDL cholesterol and increases HDL and lowers blood pressure.

This diet also helps in maintaining blood sugar levels and cholesterol. The greatest fat loss is in abdominal region. Low-carb diets are very effective at lowering blood triglycerides, which are fat molecules that increase your risk of heart disease.


Now here comes a twist!! 

Consumption of too much fat for long period of time won't make your heart happy.

Cutting off carbs to such low limit can lead to muscle cramps, fatigue,  diarrhea or constipation, headache, skin rash and bad breath. 

If teenagers and kids follow this diet routine they are most likely to suffer from low bone density and impaired growth.
